The Borgo Petroro Relais, through its restaurant Locanda Petreja, actively collaborates with the Frantoio Passo della Palomba (Todi), where it is possible to organise visits and tasting events, and Urbani Tartufi, a business that has roots going back six generations, which has conquered an important part of the truffle market on a worldwide scale.
Local Craftsmanship
Umbria has been the land of artisans and craftsmen for centuries. Its economy is upheld by family networks and by people who know how to continually renew its traditions. For this reason, Borgo Petroro is always ready and available to advise you on guided tours of artisanal companies, where to meet with people who know how to face the challenges of innovation and digitalization, by keeping a constant eye on detail and the human aspect of their work. Cultural Tourism
Todi and the surrounding area
The city of art par excellence, Todi boasts an extraordinary abundance of interesting cultural and religious sites. Home town of the medieval poet and scholar Jacopo dei Benedetti, better know as Jacopone da Todi, this timeless city is full of art places: its two important churches, the Roman-Gothic cathedral of Maria SS Annunziata and the renaissance Temple dedicated to Santa Maria della Consolazione, are a fascinating example of two different ages of Italian architecture; you can also discover other lesser known sites, such as the Roman Cisterns, the Painted House or the Museums of the Pinacoteca, of the Civiltà Contadina and the Lapidario.
The Reception will provide you with all the necessary information to make your visit to Todi enjoyable.
Umbria and its art cities and towns
Visiting Umbria means discovering famous and beautiful cultural places, such as the wonderful cities of Perugia, Orvieto, Assisi, Spoleto and Gubbio and the enchanting towns of Spello, Deruta, Narni, Città della Pieve, Norcia, Castiglione del Lago and many others.
For each of these towns, we can assist you with the organization of special itinerary and useful advices on how to get there, where to eat what to see.
Unusual itineraries and hidden treasures
Get some ideas for a different kind of trip, expecially if you’ve already visited Umbria more than once and know its major attractions, take a look at itineraries out of mainstream tourism: visit small towns like Rasiglia, Castelluccio di Norcia, Panicale, Solomeo, Civitella del Lago or the Tempietto di Campello sul Clitunno. Be enchanted by the hidden authentic beauty.
The land and the outdoors
Sport and outdoor activities
In Umbria, the wildness of natural countrysides is without any doubt more dominant compared with anthropized landscapes. Experiencing this region means exploring its nature, the countrysides, the mountains and the waters, through open air activities scanned by the slow rhythm of nature.
Here at Borgo Petroro we can provide you with all the contacts for horse riding excursions, truffle huntings, hot-air balloon tours or breath-taking experiences, like canyoning, kayak and rafting in the narrow Gole del Nera, or in the less famous Forra di Prodo.
Natural parks and trekking
As the “Green Heart of Italy”, Umbria offers a vast number of natural parks.
Just a few chilometres away from Borgo Petroro, you can visit the Parco Fluviale del Tevere and take a wonderful walk to the Roccaccia di Titignano, so that you can appreciate how the Tiber river slowly turns into the Lake of Alviano, or the Fossil Forest of Dunarobba – Avigliano. Wonderful places can be reached by car in just 45 minutes – such as the Cascata delle Marmore (Marmore Falls) or the beechwoods and the rivers of the Parco of the Sette Frati on Mount Peglia.
